The Google Fridge Giveaway
I acquired a Google Fridge a while ago, and have decided to give it away to one lucky reader. First, some specifics on the fridge:
There are a lot more pics at my Flickr page.
I also made a little video showing some of the coolness of said fridge. It can even be used to keep things warm. Multi-purpose!
So how do you win this awesome piece of schwag? Just write a blog post outlining what you’d do with it if you won, and link to this post. I’ll see the trackback, and you’re automatically entered! Also, leave a comment on Tamar’s Schwag Addict post, just to make sure.
The contest runs for a week, ending Monday, January 14th, 2008. There are 4 judges (Tamar Weinberg, Barry Schwartz, Matt McGee and myself), and we’ll pick a winner about a week after that. I’ll link to the winning article for all to see.
For those without a blog, you can send me an email at golf01 at gmail dot com, but really, why aren’t you blogging? Looking for a great reason to start! I’ve just given you one!
Best of luck everyone; Now bring on the submissions!

January 7th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Seeing that you are a golf buff, if I won the fridge, I’d donate it to the golf tournament held in memory of my father. This would make a great door prize or silent auction item! The tournament raises money for scholarships for rural high school students to attend the local junior college. It’s designed to help those who otherwise would not be able to attend college at all.
January 7th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
PS I promise to send golf tournament photos, including prominent fridge placement.

I’ll start writing it tonight.
January 8th, 2008 at 12:48 am
OK. Now I’ve got it figured out. I’ll link to this post and hopefully win myself a fridge.
Do I get two entries if I mention the contest in a Bowl of Cheese podcast, too?

I’m not going to give you any more info than that, but if you want specifics, leave a comment on this post and I’ll email you the terms and conditions. […]

[…] I would like to have a real Google refrigerator, but I need more links to this web site, or this one, or is it this one? The soberness has made my head clear and I cannot even think straight. I can barely work because nobody designs websites while sober. I just looked down at my lukewarm bucket of water. I am sad again. […]

I would treat this beautiful thing with utmost respect: I would fill it with spectacular carbonated beverages, like fine champagne and delicious beer.
Mr. Gfridge would provide glorious moments of blissful happiness to my wonderful, drunk friends.
Oh, Mr. Gfridge.. you will be so happy in my loving arms.
January 8th, 2008 at 3:41 am
My pre-apologies for not having a blog =)
I’m actually entering this to win not for myself but for my friend. I got a fridge for my birthday from my mom (been a life long dream, sad huh?) and love it every day. However, my friend (James), is now jealous. My fridge is bigger than this but, lets face it, it’s not as cool as I don’t have google on the front of it. Then again, i do have sharpies… Anyways, i digress. What i would do, is give this to my friend so he can finally have a fridge for the long nights of Guild Wars, Final Fantasy XI, and Ragnarok Online. I would, ofcourse, supply many numerous pictures (videos if possible) of his enjoyment of said Google fridge. Maybe even topless if done artfully. (Read: In black and white and holding a flower of some sort). I cannot promise this but, i’m sure the google fridge (and alcohol probably) could convince him. If i have missed any requirements please let me know. Please, help my friend in need.
Yours truly,
-Micah P

I would like it so that i can show off to potntial clients when they come around to my home office - all that is missing is a pic of Matt, Larry and Sergey on my wall.
I have a Google mini, beanbag, Hats, Polo’s, Sweatshirts and even blinky badges.
My wife has just ordered me Google lip Balm……
I really would like a Google fridge to put my clients soft drinks in and look dead cool…..

[…] Dan Perry has come up with a rather genius link-bait in the form of giving away something - Win a Google Fridge. I have decided I need to win this fridge because it would be the perfect size to store my life sized bust of Matt Cutts that is made entirely out of his hair and used chewing gum (pilfered from conference trash bins). Without a fridge the bust needs constant spritzing of the purest mountain spring water or it tends to dry out and catch fire… I don’t know why […]

BartTheBear wants the fridge so he can have a place that advertises Google to keep our fish, a delicassy for us bears, cold and fresh!!! We will invite our Polar cousins in the north to come and visit us. The ice-bergs are melting and they can’t live there anymore.
January 8th, 2008 at 11:43 am
That’s a cool fridge, cousin. Can I still win if I’m related to you. You have no clue who I am. I went to my aunt’s Christmas party and she stunk, at least according to my daughter.

[…] Hey, Dan! I want your Google fridge! […]
January 8th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
I am going to keep this short but sweet. As a returning college student at Penn State I am this semester moving into my first apartment of my own. Allow me to change gears for a moment, ever since I was in middle school I have been a daily Google user, and I would say I have considered myself a Google fanboy since at least 2004. I use pretty much every piece of software Google has to offer; Google 411 is #2 on my speed dial (Girlfriend insists on #1). Anyway back on track as to what I would do with this fridge: Being a college student I don’t have much time to go shopping for things like deli-meats or vegetables so one might not think I have a need for a fridge, that was the mistake I made when I allowed my landlord to talk me into taking the apartment that only has a freezer, no fridge. It struck me about a week after I signed the lease that even if I can keep my beer in the deep freeze, I still wont be able to keep any soft drinks or even condiments for things I might want to eat. This little gem would quickly become the centerpiece to my modest little apartment, and create a way for me to have a refreshing beverage when I need it most. In conclusion not only would I love this piece as a token of my love for Google, but it will also be something that I will use every day. I can assure you that if you give this to me that you can take credit for the GPA increase I will see from the caffeine that will be kept in this unique devise.
Thank you for your time and consideration I hope you can understand that I truly need this more then anyone else that will possibly enter this competition.
Reader,
Andrew

If you’re giving it away, I’ll have it
Wish it was that simple. I’m from Brisbane, Australia does that mean I can’t win? or would you ship it here? Anyways I need this fridge why? Well I can most certainly tell you what it doesn’t involve nuclear weapons of any sort, oops umm, I need it to store all of my beverages. Also when my girlfriend comes over I’ll need a fridge to easily dispense her tasteful alcohol from the almighty Google Fridge.
Also seeming as I am from Australia, after I’ve hunted me down some crocs
where am I suppose to store them if I don’t have my own Gfridge?, it just wouldn’t be the same storing them in an ordinary fridge would it?
I promise I would make sure the fridge is always stocked with yummy beers, a rainbow of beers and also mixed drinks too. Handy to keep the bourbon cold on those summer nights with my Gfridge as well

Hi,
I am a little girl and I would like to win the Hanna Montana tickets I mean Google fridge because my Dad was killed in Iraq. My mommy has been really sad and I think if I won a fridge it would really perk her up. I think she would even draw happy eyebrows. You know the ones that look like a ( ,but on top of her eyes. Sometimes when mommy is really sad she draws ^ above her eyes and I know that I am really in trouble.
Nah seriously I would prob. Send it over to Iraq for my Brother to help with troop moral. It is against the rules to have beer but they can have “pop”. And I will fill that fridge with some Bacon and “pop”.
Thanks! And love the looks of that thing.
January 8th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
If won, I would be utterly selfish and plug it in right here next to the computer so I would not have to navigate this wheelchair into the kitchen each time I needed something cold to drink.
And what better than the logo of my favorite search engine for the front of it. Well actually, I have some refrigerator magnets that would like as not cover it over.
It would allow me to move all my office out onto the back patio, since it is in the 80s in the afternoon here, right now.

[…] I StumbleUpon this contest. I need a tiny fridge like I need a hole in the head. On the other hand, I begin to think of it as a metaphor. For years, I have jokingly referred to myself as "The Goddess of Google." iGoogle is my home page, GMail is my primary mode of communication, and Google Calendar now runs my life. Kind of like my daughter has for the last nineteen years. Having a Google fridge just makes sense, doesn’t it? […]

I go to a boarding school in northern Maine and would use it to keep my beverages cold. I would also hang my good graded papers on it. Third, I could sell Mountain Dew out of it. All in all, this would be advantageous to my academic career.

Cool…I have this friend who, shall we say,is short in stature. This fridge might

January 9th, 2008 at 4:57 am
If I won — oh, please, may I? — the dear, sweet little fridge would be on its way to Iraq, to a certain Captain E., who shall remain nameless! He and his guys would be happy, I would be happy, and, of course, therefore, YOU would be happy. He just got there and he’ll still be there at this time next year. So since it is WITHIN YOUR POWER (pretty impressive, huh?) to declare all this happiness — I leave the decision in your capable hands and true hearts!!
(Okay, I can only stand so much drippiness, but, honestly, Captain E. would be pretty darn happy with it!)
Thanks! Kath

I wrote a post about what I would do to win your fridge: http://danperry.com/wordpress/google-fridge-giveaway/
The whole post is interesting (hehe), but here is what I would do in a nutshell:
“As much as I would LOVE to have that Google fridge in my office, I wouldn’t be able to keep it. I would need to use it to do good in this world. I would auction it off and donate every penny to the Kabala Community School in Sierra Leone. Their current school is in a rice patty field, and they are trying to build a school with actual walls and a ceiling. They could really use the money, and Dan Perry’s fridge would mean a world of difference to those kids.:

Aside from being a Google fan, the fridge would be awesome for my dog. Being from Canada, we rarely need to actually use a fridge as it is always so cold up here anyway. But the fact it can also keep things warm is truly intriguing - as my beloved mutt hates it when his raw Buffalo bones freeze. If I placed them in your lovely GFridge it would keep them at an ideal temperature. Without having to defrost the bones, this becomes a very economical and environmentally friendly solution - and Laughing Dog Cafe is all about environmentally friendly solutions!

Hi Dan,,
If i won the fridge the top freezer compartment would be converted into a cryogenic freezing section to preserve the brains of deceased SEO’s. The bottom half would incorporate multi-modal technology and would only open the door for food if you entered the correct search term in via a touch surface .

Hey there..
The Google Fridge will be perfect for me, after i lost my Google Mug a couple of months ago ( http://blogoscoped.com/forum/112238.html ).
Plus, I’m enlisting the army in about a month ( I live in Israel ) , so that fridge could help me a lot cooling stuff when I’ll be away from home.
Thanks,
David.

[…] Here comes Santa It just so happens that there is a very cool piece of Google schwag that I have a chance of getting my grubby little hands on regardless of being left out of Google’s reindeer games. Not that Google would be so kind to send me but rather the very cheery and generous Dan Perry is holding a fun little contest giving away his awesome mini Google fridge. I’ve thought about this for a while now, and the most compelling reasons for giving the fridge to me are these:
I would use it for good, not evil.
I would cherish it as if it were my own child.
I would protect it from harm.
I would put stuff in it that would benefit from being cold(er).
I would not hold it up against my foes as an amulet or totem signifying my stronger google kung fu.
I would share its contents with my brother (as in fellow Man- I don’t actually have a brother).
I would clean it and keep it plugged-in to prevent stinkiness.
I would take the occasional picture of it to prove my love is true.

Since it is a cooling coil based fridge I couldn’t do long term storage for fermenting small batches of beer or yeast starters but I could use it for when I go to the local beer club for transporting yeast starters or beers that I have brewed that we will be sampling after the official meeting is over. It would fit perfectly on my 49cc scooter. With fridge and scooter I could become a one man mobile army for converting people from being beer buyers to becoming beer makers!

Well, here in Brazil we are in summer now. The temperature is so high that I can’t sleep at night.
I’m using a fan, but it doesn’t help because the air inside my bedroom is very hot…
But, if I use this fridge, I will have how to keep my bedroom with an ideal temperature to sleep… I’m going to put the fridge with the door open in front of the fan and I will get a very good cold air…
Well… It’s not impossible! This fridge is from google!!!
Please Dan, help me to have a good sleep at night!
Thanks a lot
